“I won’t stop fighting until we make health care affordable” – Theresa Greenfield
Today, businesswoman Theresa Greenfield’s U.S. Senate campaign released a new TV ad, “Affordable,” highlighting Theresa’s commitment to expanding affordable, quality health care to all Iowans, along with Theresa’s own experience running a small business and providing health care for her employees.
As Senator, Theresa will fight for all Iowans to have access to quality health care – no matter who they are or where they live. That means strengthening the Affordable Care Act, protecting coverage for people with preexisting conditions and allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.
Senator Ernst, meanwhile, continues to try to rip health care away from Iowans. Three years ago this week, Senator Ernst cast her vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would have dismantled Iowa’s Medicaid expansion and gutted protections for the nearly 1.3 million Iowans with a pre-existing condition. She even bragged that “I actually have the courage” to tear down the health care protections so many Iowans depend on.
In addition, Ernst voted for the massive tax giveaway to big corporations and the wealthiest Americans that added $2 trillion to the national debt and laid the foundation for the ongoing anti-ACA lawsuit that could result in 20 million Americans losing their health care coverage. When asked about the anti-ACA lawsuit, Ernst said, “I’m not saying whether I support it or not.” On the first day of the general election, Theresa called on Senator Ernst to take action to oppose the ongoing federal lawsuit. Ernst has still refused to take action against the lawsuit.
“Especially during a pandemic, Iowans are looking for leaders that will stand up to the corporate special interests and fight to protect and expand access to health care. Theresa knows from her personal experience running a small business that health care is a right – not a privilege,” said Greenfield for Iowa spokesperson Izzi Levy. “While Senator Ernst puts her corporate PAC and Big Pharma donors above Iowans, Theresa isn’t taking a dime from corporate PACs and will be relentless in her fight for what is best for Iowans.”
